How Verbatim does it
Hiding records the element's own inline display value on a stack before changing it, so undo puts back exactly what was there rather than guessing at a default. That is also why Z can walk back one element at a time, in the order you hid them.
How to use it
- Press Alt+Shift+P, then X.
- Click anything you want gone.
- Press Z to undo, or Esc to restore everything and leave.
What it will not do
- A script that re-inserts its own banner will re-insert it. Hide it again.
- This changes your view of the page and nothing else. Nobody else sees it and no reload keeps it.
Compared with deleting the node in DevTools
Deleting a node in DevTools works once. Bringing it back means undoing in a panel, or reloading and dismissing the cookie banner again, and it takes the node's identity with it.

Questions about Hide elements
How do I bring a hidden element back?
Press Z. Each press restores the most recently hidden element, so you can walk back through them in order rather than reloading and starting again.
Does hiding an element break the layout?
It is display: none, so the space closes up, which is usually what you want for a banner or a sticky header. Anything positioned relative to it moves accordingly, exactly as it would if the element were not there.
Is the change permanent?
No. It lives in your own copy of the page and a reload restores everything.
Can I hide several things at once?
Yes, one click each, and they stack. The undo order is the reverse of the order you hid them.
Why not just delete the node?
Because putting it back should be exact. Hiding keeps the element and its original inline display value, so the restore is the real thing rather than a re-creation.
